Frequently Asked Questions
Loan terms and charges comply with California law. Actual offers vary by item and market conditions. See your pawn ticket for complete terms.
-
You bring in an item of value as collateral. We evaluate it, offer a loan based on its resale value, and give you cash on the spot with a pawn ticket. No credit check is involved. Redeem anytime by repaying the loan plus allowable charges, or renew by paying the accrued charges.
-
Pawning is a loan: you keep ownership and can get your item back by repaying it. Selling is a final transaction. We buy the item outright, and a sale usually brings you more cash than a pawn loan. We do both, so just tell us which you prefer.
-
You must be 18 or older and present a valid government-issued photo ID. We record your information, take a fingerprint, and submit the transaction details to law enforcement through CAPSS (the California Pawn and Secondhand Dealer System). This is required statewide for every pawn and purchase.
-
No. Pawn loans are based solely on the value of the item you bring in. There is no credit check and it does not affect your credit.
-
California law strictly regulates pawn charges, and we follow it on every loan. Our rates are posted in the shop, your full terms are on your pawn ticket, and we’ll walk you through everything before you accept an offer.
-
California requires a minimum loan term of 120 days. You can redeem or renew anytime during the term. To renew, you pay the accrued charges and we issue you a new ticket. After the original term ends, we send the required notice, and you then have an additional 10-day grace period to redeem.
-
After the 120-day term and the required notice, you have a 10-day grace period. If you don’t redeem or renew by then, the item becomes ours to sell. Need more time? Talk to us before the term ends.
-
No problem. You can still redeem or renew with your valid ID and verification of the loan. A small fee may apply for a lost ticket. Bring your ID and we’ll help you.
-
We take a wide range of valuable items, including video games and consoles, electronics and audio gear, computers, TVs and cameras, musical instruments, gold, jewelry, watches, sterling silver and turquoise, tools, sporting goods, bows, fishing gear, knives and swords, BB and pellet guns, golf clubs, RC and hobby items, die-cast and Franklin Mint collectibles, antiques, and anything of value. If you aren’t sure whether we’ll take something, bring it in or send us a photo.
-
Every transaction requires a valid ID, a fingerprint, and a detailed description of the item, including serial numbers when available. We report to law enforcement through CAPSS, and purchased items are subject to a holding period required by California law before they can be sold. We actively cooperate with police.
-
It depends on the item’s condition, market value, and expected resale value. As long as the item supports the loan, we’ll work with you, and you’ll get a clear offer on the spot. There’s no obligation, so you’re free to say no.
-
Yes. Items are stored securely, and we maintain insurance and bonding as required.
